01 / A Career Built Around Human Health

From the front lines to healthcare's future.

My career didn't begin in technology. It began with people.

As an EMT in the U.S. Maritime Service and later as a fire medic with a volunteer fire department, I experienced healthcare where it is most immediate: in moments when people are vulnerable, systems are under pressure, and decisions matter.

That experience led me to a broader question: What else determines human health beyond the walls of a hospital or clinic?

I moved into environmental health, leading New York State's largest water quality testing program and helping establish the Surfrider Miami Foundation's Blue Water Task Force. At the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School, I studied oceans and human health.

Graduate training in public health and epidemiology brought me increasingly toward healthcare analytics and technology. At ChenMed, I worked across product design, product management, and clinical informatics—designing clinical applications, supporting telehealth and remote monitoring, advancing interoperability, and leading informatics strategy.

Today, I lead enterprise product design and strategy at Abarca Health, helping shape AI-enabled pharmacy benefit management products serving more than 16 million covered lives. My work spans Healthcare Intelligence, claims, prior authorization, medication therapy management, operational AI, member experience, and responsible AI governance.

Across each stage of my career, the disciplines have changed, but the question has remained the same: How can better information, better technology, and better product decisions improve human health at scale?
